Grabbist Hill and Bats Castle
Distance: 6.8 miles
Grade: A surprisingly hilly walk, strenuous in parts, rewarded with excellent views.
This walk was written for the Yarn Market Hotel by Bryan for their walking holidays, but the walk still can be walked without using the hotel. If you are interested in their walking holidays then please visit their walking holiday web site at www.exmoor-walking-holidays.co.uk/.
This walk is a good challenge with some superb views over the surrounding countryside and sea. It passes through woodlands, alongside streams and over high ridges. It also passes through two ancient earthworks with good views over Dunster and the castle. It finishes by returning through Dunster and its many medieval buildings.
